This is true and for the street, the M235 is the clear choice. For the track though, it's a toss up. More power but 4% front heavy or perfect 50/50, less 200lbs, but with a max output of around 320hp where the M235 can easily go above 400.

In the end, it all comes down to what is more fun. I think they're a toss up with a slight preference towards the 228 track manual. You're not going to see manuals hold a high resale value at like carmax or as a trade-in. But if you list one for sale on the forums, it'll sell quick at or above book value.

I sold both my Z4M Coupe and e92 M3 on bimmerpost and they both sold within one week of listing them for asking price which was above book value. This is definitely the place to buy and sell enthusiast-grade cars.
