It is not about a niche model, it is just about a compact sedan under the F30 which is based on the F20. What it this car might be, 1 Series Sedan or 2 Series GranCoupé, it is a compact sedan below the mid-sized sedan (F30). By the time BMW decides to build it, the 1 Series will be replaced, meaning it will be FWD. It will no more be worth investing on old platform. So they will bring a 1/2 Series Sedan/GranCoupé on next generation, but then, nobody will care, as it will be FWD. But being cheaper, many will buy it for the BMW badge. Continuation of brand dilution!
