Haha, No I am not Edward Scissorhands. I believe it was cause by the zipper on a bag, although it could have been rivets on a pair of my jeans as well.
I don't know if I'll apply any filler products, it is superficial so I don't think it will leave a groove once the loose fibers have been cleaned off, I think the surface will just need an oil of some sort to reseal it.
