I've seen a few debadge jobs around these parts. Let me say emphatically, these folks are the most self conscious posers. It creates absolute ambiguity! Self conscious about the silly M, or even the 235, so they remove it to be ambiguous. Possibly narcissist because all it does it create more attention. People look at it and stare trying to figure out WTF it is.
