That number what used when Toray was producing the new Dreamliner, with investments from Boeing and Airbus, they are able to boost their manufacturing lines and produce that amount. It's safe to say though, BMW's current factory in Moses Lake is largest carbon fiber factory in the world. Also, i know that BMW is looking to expand that 9,000 Metric ton figure, and in the next ten years could be over 20,000 tons of carbon fiber a year.
