There's no such thing as a lifetime fluid, but BMW claims the transmission fluid is good for the lifetime of the vehicle for some reason. I guess in a sense they are right; if you don't change it, the transmission will fail, and most people would scrap the car at that point!
I did both differentials and the transfer case at the same time as the transmission at 60k, and just did them again at 123k.
