For a functional reason the M3 fenders are more
"flared" than those of the M4:

We heard through the grapevine that the M2 will get a wider track than the M235i. Wider track = flared fenders are a bare necessity.
Hence, I think (and hope) that the fenders of the M2 will be more similar to the F80 M3 fenders than to the ones of the M4.
