I was wondering the same. I should be a bug or something. I'm sure they're making enough money with it: US MSRP was $2,8xx and I believe they increased it to $3,1XX. I doubt they are holding off to M2.
It could be the same thing as when some time they had removed the manual transmission, but it was back on a few days later.
