When you have basically every car major reviewer Clarkson, Harris, Farah, Needel, etc. (Motor Trend being the exception) lavishing praise on a limited production car it certainly helps bolster its resale value.
Not to mention I had two separate people come up and talk to me about my car on a short lunch trip to the gym and to the gas station today ... not too bad for a 2 year old non Italian dirty black car on a cold but sunny winter day.
Also, last I heard CarMax is paying above original sticker for ~ 20,000 mile 1Ms.
