I too had an early E82 135--first or second one in Indiana if I remember right...and maybe I was just lucky, but I didn't have any of the HPFP issues that plagued the N54, or the wastegate rattle...
I think some of this is luck of the draw...but I would also assume (perhaps incorrectly) that BMW has improved upon their manuf. techniques since the E82 was first produced...the N55 has been around for a while, so shouldn't be any problems there...
I am cautiously optimistic.
