Both the current Z4 35i and 35is are still produced with the same N54 engine.
Check the mpg figures (the z4 has worse mpg than most N55 cars), realoem as well as zpost (the official news post related to the Z4 LCI). It is a common misconception that especially the 35i (ie the non-is model) ever switched to using the N55 engine.
The Z4 was never offered with the N55 engine and probably never will be.
