Clearly it can be implied here that manufacturers are unwilling to stand behind their products for more than 10 years and us the consumers are happy with that. Funny enough BMW drivers are ok with the 4 year warranty (unless if you are willing to pay for more coverage). Why then should any manufacturer be required to foot the bill on any defect that goes beyond the warranty period or any period they have expressly stated that they are willing to stand by their product?

If I were a lawyer for GM/Toyota/BMW etc I would look into curtailing this silliness.
I'm sorry but safety recalls on an explosive charged airbag that may go off at any time (and harm/kill if it’s a small enough person in front of it) and warranties on ball joints are two completely different things and silly to compare the two.
