American cars are normally all crank numbers. BMW/MINI numbers are closer to wheel numbers than crank numbers (my Cooper S lists 189 as the published HP, Dyno'd it produced 188. at the wheels. Previous threads seem to reflect this to be the case w/ most of the German brands. I'd wager the number shown in the brochure for the M240i are closer to wheel numbers rather than crank.
