The R is a wonderful machine, just too much to pay as it is brand new right now. If you can manage get one for MSRP, worth considering, but most dealers are no budging on the $2k-$5k markup.

VW community is actually great. I live in the Chicagoland area and there are many local meets. The Chicagoland thread on golfmk6.com is the best of all
I still post there and have many great friends.
I do not think that the interior quality in a Golf MK6/7 GTI/R are worse than in a M235i.
