I drove a 428 convertible at full throttle and it had a great sound, higher pitch then the 235 inline-6 which made it seem louder.
228 I test drove had great power - the only four cylinder engine that came close to the BMW was a Honda 2.2 four in the 1998 Prelude - these are great engines.
