I put my order in for a M240i in the middle of January, so I got locked into the January incentives.

MSRP $55,424
Dealer Discount 5249
BMWFS incentive 3500
Loyalty incentive 750
Corporate Sales Incentive 500
Total 45425

so it was a pretty good price.

But the dealer was having trouble getting an allotment so I started looking around and saw a M2 available at $56776.29 that they would sell at MSRP, with $2000 Corporate Sales Discount for 54776.29.

So without an allotment on the M240i, I went to test drive the M2 to decide if the M2 was worth the extra $10K. I had tested the M240 and the M240 performance edition. I really liked the M240. It was the first car I'd driven that I thought drove as well as my E46 330Ci ZHP. Surely the M2 wasn't THAT much better.

So the M2 impressions. I loved the seats more than any car seats like ever. The blue stitching looks amazing and the seats felt really amazing. The ride admittedly was a bit rough, but I've never felt that planted to the road in any other car, not even a M4. I really liked the M240 but really really loved the M2.

I left. I had to get back to work and I have a rule you never ever buy a car without going home and running the numbers. When I got home 2 things happened. The other dealer sent me the build code for the M240, they got the allotment. And the M2 disappeared from the dealers inventory it was sold.

So I'm sure I'll be perfectly happy with my custom built M240i that I got a super fantastic deal on. But I'll always think about that blue M2 as the one that got away.
