To chime in on the other comments, I've found that my car will make gunshot noises if I'm engine braking down a hill between 2.5/4k rpm and tap the throttle. Once or twice these pops have been so shockingly loud I could feel it in my chest.
I'm all stock except for a straight axle back post resonator.
