It was after I went to square 255/35-18 PS4S' for my M240i that I discovered the OEM 245/35-18 PSS tread widths of 9.2" were wider even than the 255 PS4S at 8.8". That came as a bit of a surprise. Had I done proper research, I would have chosen to put the BMW Star Spec 245s on the car.
Interesting that BMW * spec are actually wider because on the F8x and GTS the tires run narrow for 255/275 and 265/285. This is because BMW tends to run narrower tires so the rim provides better side wall support. My comparison of MPSS and MP4S are on my e92 m3 and F82 M4. Still have the stock PSS on our 240ix.
