This could be the root of your issue. Prior cars may not have had the software or alert system to let you know the damage occurring to the throwout bearing. I can recall my driving instructor decades ago pounding into our heads to keep our foot off the clutch other than for a shift.

Try driving for a while with your foot off the clutch unless in the process of a shift, and see if the message ever returns. I am close to positive that BMW designed the car with the expectation that the clutch pedal would have zero pressure when a shift is not occurring.
