So can one of you engineers explain why the manual is faster with a Z4 28 and 328 but a manual is slower with the N55. Obviously the shift point or gearing makes the manual faster with the N20 vs the N55 but I'd like to understand why. I remember the N54 manual used to be faster than the 6 speed auto and I thought it was because the auto shifted into 3rd before 60 but you could hold the manual in second. Just trying to understand why the manual is faster so far with the N20. I'm going by the BMW website numbers.
