Yes S1 is used for where the power starts and stops in the RPM range on Diesel cars !! The higher the number the wider the powerband.

Also, I just got word from a 2011 550 fellow who has had RC since November, those bigger engines require less increase and he's been at stock setting since and has been more than happy.
