I would be worried and probably not get a first year model such as the F30 or F30 M3 especially when there is also a new motor involved.
Having said that, the M235 is not a new car, it's a 135 in different body style. The M2 (if it ever comes) may or may not end up being a new car.. The 1M was a parts bin car and therefore I wouldn't have been concerned with a first MY car if I had purchased a 1M
