Sorry to hear about your accident and glad it wasn't more serious (albeit pretty terminal for the raccoon, sadly).
I live in southern England and a few years ago was en route to HQ and pulled-over because a car had stopped after hitting a large animal. The legs only were still sticking out of the front grille (an old Volvo estate).
I realised it was a Wallaby. Indigenous to the Australian continent but not known to migrate the 9500 miles to West Sussex, England.
Turned out there's a breeding Wallaby population in the area, escaped from a big country estate where they were imported in the 19th Century. We also have llamas, bred for their wool, that escape from time to time.
I just wondered what the reaction was when he submitted his insurance claim.
