Interesting to see that it was an oil pump.
Ive seen a fair bit of N55 engines blow here at the dealer.. Most are poor maint or chain issues...And on the XDrive vehicles Front driveshafts blow apart and cause a ton of damage - can either take out an engine or a transmission depending which end blows up.
Funny enough.. 2 Weeks ago i did a PDI on a brand new M4... walked outside started the car up...walked back into the shop to put some paper work away....walked back out..car was no longer running
and would not turn over... Found out a timing chain had jumped a tooth - bmw sent us a brand new engine.
