This correct?
The 3197 curb weight on a 128i manual is up to 3260 on this 228i manual. HP is up from 230 to 240, but the 0-60 falls short. 6.1 sec on a manual 128i and now 6.2 on this manual 228i. All these numbers seem reasonable enough.

The big difference between the auto and manual 228 must be due to a huge improvement in the auto transmission.

Cheers!
Well as another data point, with the lonely 320, the manual and 8-auto 0-60 times are exactly 7.1.
Therefore if BMW goes to lengths to keep a 320 and 328 relatively equal for manual/auto 0-60, why penalize a manual 228 so drastically (0.8s) from its 8-auto?
I guess I'm not directly concerned with what that 0.8s feels like on the street, but more the fact that its been artificially de-tuned when its very capable to match the 8-auto given other vehicle specs we see here. Or maybe this new 6MT is actually a bogus improvement? Or maybe it's a way to phase-out manuals to show a significant performance gap?
However, even the M235 manual/auto times are only off 0.1s! My deductive reasoning leads to, hopefully, a typo. :
