Thank you so much for this comment! I was driving myself crazy with this, I'm UK based and Kwik Fit (big chain) actually did split a tyre and in doing so damaged my alloy, they replaced the tyre and refurbished the alloy (looks brand new).

The other tyre fitters (independent in my area) I told them about rear mounting, and they just flipped the alloy on their machine, I guess I'll have to do some research into tyre fitters, you've restored my faith in my tyre purchase!
