If the AW3 is Bluetooth enabled, I don't see why not ... the larger issues may be:
- The specific iOS that Apple Watch uses, which may not be recognized by older iDrive software, and
- Bluetooth 5.0 and if it's backward compatible. I would think it is, but sometimes different BT protocols don't work well together.
I highly suggest waiting 1-2 months before trying any new iOS or gizmo on the car. Let others do the experimentin'.

Ha - I was planning to do that exactly and get one for Christmas. Luckily I have a buddy who owns a Verizon store will hit him up one day to pair his watch with my car for a test case.
Would be great if it works though. Won't work on my car but would also be awesome if like the i3/8 the watch could serve as my key.
