How is 60 lbs going to change anything? are you auto crossing that thing?
Sarcasm aside, some people yank the back seats for decent reasons:

-You can throw crap in the back (Bikes, tools, dogs) things that would otherwise screw up the leather.
-You'll shave weight, 60 lbs is not much but it's free.
-You'll get more noise in the car, which if you like hearing your exhaust isn't a bad thing. Typically that seat + covering the opening to the trunk conceals a lot of exhaust noise.
-If you AutoX or track and decide to run 5 point harnesses the back seat is useless anyways and this makes the tether point easier to access.

I used to yank the rear seat out of my Sentra all the time because it made the rear seat much larger so when I was transporting my then giant CRT TV back and forth from school I didn't have to worry about it crushing and marring the seats. I permanently damaged/stretched the rear seats in my Acura from hauling some heavy cargo in the back seat.
