Second thought on price point/profit margin...
Smaller doesn't have to mean cheap.
If you look at the CLA45, load it up with a few options and the MSRP is pretty much head to head with a loaded 335i or an Audi S4.
I think there will be a growing demand for smaller high end cars (or maybe that is just whichfull thinking on my part)... BMW will need something to compete on that playing field...
Time will tell - I'm in no rush anyway, my e90 still has that new car smell and to me, it is as close as it gets to perfect!
